Sophia Jade is a media artist currently based in Boston, Massachusetts. Born in HongKong and raised for fourteen formative years in Mainland China, SJ’ works revolves around cultural identity and belonging. She is attending at Emerson College for their MFA in Media Art Production.
Sophia Jade has contributed to over 20 film productions. Their directing portfolio includes ”Not Our House" (independent film about minority solidarity, cast and crew of 40+) and "Paris Is Not Burning" (over 200,000 views on Bilibili, recognized as best video of the week by platform). His directing credits also encompass theatrical productions like Anne Washburn’s "10 out of 12" and Jennifer O'Grady's "Persephone" (featured in a one-act festival). As a screenwriter, SJ has authored two short films, Steam Mirror & Orange Moon, selected & produced by Northwestern University's prestigious NHSI program. Sophia Jade’s other notable projects include the photographic work Afterglow (cover feature for EM Magazine) and short film The Vegetarian.
Sophia Jade’s curatorial work extends into directing Mini Film Fest and collaborating with Italy's Film Company Premiere to distribute films internationally.
